Estate Sale Coverage

I love going to estate sales. The excitement building while you wait in line and then the burst forward when it’s time to start the pursuit of treasures. When I read the ad for an estate sale that started on Thursday, March 19th I knew I wanted to go photograph and shop it.

The line of people waiting to get into the sale…

The cute little barn mailbox…

The big draw at the sale was the original wood paneling and cabinetry from the Davenport Hotel barber shop along with other barber shop items.

Look at the sweet little child’s chair that attached to the barber chair for kid’s haircuts…

I liked this blue salon chair and it was surprisingly comfortable. I thought it would be fun for my living room or the next store that I open. I left it behind because it needed a lot of cleaning…

Anyone in the need of a permanent wave…

Even though I was probably the 15th or 20th person to enter into the barn where all the barbershop/salon stuff was, most of the really unique and historical items had already been tagged as “SOLD” (I think it is unfair to mark things as SOLD if it is an item small enough to be carried [a lot of people were grumbling about all of the SOLD stickers that were stuck on things]). What was left people were snatching up…

There were other intriguing items inside the barn other than the barber shop/salon items…

The cash register pictured below was really neat. It was an item that I was tempted to buy- but, had no idea how to restore. While I was checking it out so was a guy. I talked to him about how cool it was and he was contemplating buying it saying that he knew how to restore them. I encouraged him to get it since he knew how to bring it back to it’s glorious old self…

A couple of interesting items from inside the house at the sale…

I was really tempted to get this unusual Asian box/lighter/radio…

This is how they did it in the old days…

On the way to the sale I passed by this super cool castle home. I stopped by after the sale to take a few photos…

I just took my small camera with me to the sale- so, the photos aren’t the highest quality- but, you can get an idea of how neat the sale and castle house were.
