Spokane Chinese Lantern Festival – The Creation

If you have recently crossed the Washington Street Bridge through Riverfront Park then you may have noticed the giraffe gazing down at you from the edge of the park. This and the other bright creations that you can catch a glimpse of are part of the Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival.

Last week I strolled through the park and took photos of the lanterns. The lanterns are being created near the Forestry Shelter in Riverfront Park.

At the site the artisans from China are busy constructing the lanterns. The men are welding and building the structures for the lanterns. The women are sewing and gluing the colorful covers for the lanterns…

The Chinese Lantern Festival runs Saturday, September 26 – Sunday, November 1 at Riverfront Park.
