Japanese Garden, Open & In Bloom

The closing of The Japanese Gardens at Manito Park on October 31 always saddens me. I wish that I could continue to stroll it’s lovely grounds during the Fall and Winter when I imagine how gorgeous, quiet, and serene it must be covered in the snow. Unfortunately, it would be too much work to maintain the pathways so that visitors could stroll.

It is always with much anticipation that I await the reopening of the Japanese Gardens on April 1st. This year’s reopening I stopped by on my own to take photos and then later on in the day I stopped by with my family. Yesterday I dropped by early in the morning when it was gloriously quiet, with hardly any other visitors, and the bushes and trees were abloom with lovely Spring shades…

The Japanese Gardens are in need of able bodied volunteers to help maintain the grounds. If you are interested in helping out please contact the main office or talk with Nick the head gardener at the Japanese Gardens.
